Ashley Matlock Perkinson Receives 40 Under 40 Leadership Award from Triangle Business Journal

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 6, 2011) –Ashley Matlock Perkinson, attorney-at-law and principal of Perkinson Law Firm, has been named a 40 Under 40 Leadership Award winner by the Triangle Business Journal. Attorney Perkinson represents various clients in North Carolina and provides services in the areas of nonprofit consulting, media law, education law, lobbying and government relations.    

The 40 Under 40 awards program recognizes the Triangle’s most influential and highly accomplished young leaders. Perkinson was presented with the 40 Under 40 Leadership Award at a luncheon May 5 at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh.

Perkinson is a dedicated advocate for children. She represents statewide nonprofits such as the North Carolina Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA) and the Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center (ECAC). Her experience in the nonprofit and business sectors goes far beyond her client work and is exhibited through her extensive volunteer commitments and civic leadership.

“This year’s 40 Under 40 winners are the region’s up and coming thought leaders,” says Bryan Hamilton, publisher of Triangle Business Journal. “Fresh ideas, progressive initiatives and persistent hard work make up the creed of this group. Look for them to shape the Triangle’s vision of tomorrow.”

Perkinson serves on the Government Affairs Board for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the board of Community Workforce Solutions. She is also an active member of the Extra Special Super Kids Steering Committee and the North Carolina Symphony Corporate Advisory Council. Perkinson is the president of the Phi Beta Kappa Association of Wake County and has held various volunteer leadership roles in the Junior League of Raleigh.

As an active member of the legal community, Perkinson is a board member and former secretary of the Wake County Bar Association and 10th Judicial District Bar. She is also the legislative chair of the NC Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities Section Council which focuses on First Amendment issues.

Perkinson has practiced as an attorney in North Carolina for nearly 10 years. Her legal experience includes work at Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens, LLP in Raleigh and Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP in Winston-Salem. She received her juris doctorate from the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she also earned her bachelor of arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
