10 Things I Learned from Jennie Dorsett

On February 27, I learned that my good friend Jennie Dorsett died.  Jennie was a top lobbyist and attorney but most importantly an incredible and unique woman with an enormous heart and brilliant sense of humor.  During the years of our friendship I learned many valuable lessons from Jennie.  Here are just a few:
1.  Never miss an opportunity to travel.
2.  Every woman (and man for that matter) should read Erica Jong's Fear of Flying.
3.  Go for a walk every day.
4.  Starting your own business is a risk but a risk worth taking and lots of fun.
5.  Pineapple juice is much better with a little rum.
6.  Je ne regrette rien.
7.  Your word is your most valuable currency.
8.  Never judge someone by his or her title, paycheck, clothes or accent.
9.  Love is not only the most important thing, it's the only thing.
10.  Always let the ones we love know how much they mean to us.  Jennie, you were gone too soon.
